the Button Up Refashion Swap - My Dress

Following up from last week's refashion swap, here's Suzannah's creation that was made for me!

Pretty cute, right? A girl like me can never have too many red shoes to go with a dress like this. Now, if you recall, I mentioned in my post on a certain sheath dress that I've tried and tried to do gathers at my waist and each time, I've found that the gathers and moi just don't quite go together. But OMG, lookey here - there is gathering at the waist on this dress, and they work! Magical. I'm in love! If you read yesterday's post, you'll know I find this to be somewhat of a revelation too - maybe I've tried skirts and dresses with just too much gathering at the waist and that's why it didn't work for me. I'm eager to try an experiment on a new sewing project.

I'm so impressed with this creation because its something that I more than likely would have overlooked for myself - not because I don't like it, but because sometimes its hard for me to break out of my own box. But I love the style. Thanks Suzannah!

By the way, I know there's only one photo here - my camera died just as I snapped this photo and another really blurry one! Also, yes I did chop off my hair. The jury is still out for me as to whether I really like it or not, but believe me when I say that the middle schoolers DO NOT approve! It's almost crazy how bad kids are at lying at that age! I've been asked about 40 times if I cut my hair, to which I say yes, to which they give me that look that says "Were you sane when you did that?" yet their mouth says, "Oh its....cute."

Don't miss out on the other ladies in their creations either:
