I was pretty excited when the new Colette Patterns came out. OK, I was ecstactic. I was a pattern tester for these latest Beginner level patterns from Colette and I was pretty thrilled when I received them in the mail and found that the designs were not only easy, but also very flattering. Oh joy! It was hard keeping them a secret. What made keeping them a secret even harder is that I’m often asked what people (ok, women) should sew as their first project. Without fail, I always say an A-line skirt. And what is the Ginger pattern folks? Hip Hip Hip Hip Hooray! An A-line skirt!
So it is that I now announce the Beginner’s First Ginger Sewalong. Yup. Not only that, but I’ve rounded up a few other bloggers to help me out. We’ve got inspiration coming up, fabric picking, historical perspectives and finishing details all thrown into the mix to get you beginning level sewers off to a rip roaring start! Now if you’re not a beginner but still want to sewalong – this is fabulous! Plus I hope that you will comment and give tips for the beginners out there. A big community help if you will. This is going to be fun!
The official start date of the sewalong is May 16. Mark that down sewalongers! For two jam packed weeks we’re going to focus on making a skirt for the first time, a successful experience. Let’s see, what are you going to need? Well for starters, you need the pattern. And guess what? Sarai from Colette Patterns has generously offered a 20% discount on the Ginger pattern for all of the sewalongers for the month of May. Simply enter SUNNIGINGER (all caps please) in the discount code section at checkout. As for everything else you’ll need, we’ll talk about come May 16. Alright? Alright.
Here’s a handy dandy button to proudly display wherever you want to:
And there you go! Get your wheels turning sewalongers! We’re in for a lot of fun!
xoxo,
Sunni

I just found this today! I’ve been wanting to make this pattern but I’ve had a loooong hiatus from sewing, so I’ll be happy for the support!
Great! I’m so glad! Please do let me know if you have questions too! I’m trying to be more available for help too!
Ohhh! What perfect timing, I’m just finishing my first Crepe and have been wondering about joining a sewalong, yay. I have no idea how I missed the new Colette patterns, I must be living in a bubble.
I’m so glad you’re joining in! It’s fabulous what some of the Indie Pattern Companies are coming up with these days, isn’t it?
This looks like a lot of fun! I tried entering the discount code and it said it wasn’t valid? Anyone have the same problem?
It should be working. Sarai said the code would work until the end of May. Did you enter the code in all caps?
Hi Sunni, i tried the discount code. it didnt seem to work. do you have a new code to use in Jun?
Hi Stacey,
